About

While some people view using marijuana as a right, it’s actually just a privilege in the United States. There are multiple different ways that one may be denied from gaining access to a medical marijuana card. A lot of state medical programs are not very clear about how one can apply and be approved for a medical card, and they can also be pretty unclear as to why you may have not been approved. So with all of that being said, I wanted to take some time today to come on here and talk about some of the reasons that you may have been denied from getting your medical marijuana card. If you applied and were denied from getting one recently, this article may be helpful for you specifically.

One of the first things you need to do when going through the process of applying for a medical marijuana card is to get a referral from your doctor or primary care physician. In the United States, one cannot have access to medical marijuana legally without being referred by a doctor to the program. You must make an appointment with your doctor and go through the thorough interview and assessment process.

The doctor needs to have a copy of your medical and health records from the last 5 years or so. While you may be applying for medical marijuana to treat some chronic disease or physical condition, it is also important to keep in mind that the doctor will check for any health risks or problems that would expel you from using medical marijuana. Once the doctor is done, he or she will complete a medical cannabis review. This will determine if they have seen you as fit for using medical marijuana. Remember that the doctor is going to try to do what is best for you, and if they feel that one of your health conditions is a risk factor for using medical marijuana, then they will not approve you out of protection and your safety.

Sure, you can go ahead and try to find another doctor to try to get a referral from, but I would seriously consider what the previous doctor has told you and analyze all the potential risks for using medical marijuana. After all, the doctor has your best interest in mind. Hopefully this article was helpful in letting you know more about the medical marijuana programs in the United States.
