Resilience or keeping your head when life is mince
Sunday, 8 November 2009
Resilience is about bouncing back, like a rubber, bouncy ball that forgets when it bounces that anything stressful has just occurred. I have even attended a conference about resilience this weekend, so I have given this some thought.
Now, we are in our 'temporary' accommodation as there really is no ceiling in the bathroom of our normal flat. The new place is interesting, 'like being on holiday,' as Bobo remarked optimistically. Yes, it's like going on holiday somewhere cold, with no tv, where the curtains don't fully shut, the heating doesn't fully work, there is an oven but nothing to use to cook in it and happens to be located just 2 doors down from the woman who gave me an earful in March. The next couple of weeks should be interesting.....it appears I have nothing in common with that bouncing ball, other than the joys of snuggling on the sofa, listening to the BBC Asian network radio and eating my speciality, good old Scottish mince and tatties.

May your mince-n-tatties bring you comfort in your time of exodus.

Perhaps you should find the one room you can make nice and cosy (bedroom?) and live in it for the duration. Stock up on good food, chocs, wine, books and music and just have a one-room party! And if you see the earful-woman, give her a stare so evil she'll turn into a pillar of salt.

Mince-n-tatties, what I wouldn't give for a plate of that now?! Not sure I'd swap the living accommodation though, you poor thing, how long are you there for?

I'm with Nick, pare down to one room and live off the microwave. I did that once, it was bearable.
How long more?
