Pumpkins and Lebbkuchen
Monday, 26 October 2009

I am back from Germany and full of the joys of teutonic life. The family were delighted with their sweet surprises and I am now starting to regret suggesting that we make our own gingerbread house.
I go the train from Frankfurt to Karlsruhe with only a few linguistic hiccups-
Guard (when I showed him my train ticket): Woooga woooooga woooooga wooooga
Me: Huh?
Guard (grumpily now, with steely-throw-you-off-ze-train-eyes): Wooooga woooga woooga wooga ze Visa Kart.
Me: Aaaaaaaa Na yaaaaaaa
After a few days, I managed to re-heat my Higher german and was navigating my way confidently around museums and sights using the Strassenbahn.
Since returning, I have been arrested by an unfamiliar urge to tidy and order my possessions. I am hoping it will pass, because I am in danger of acting on it.

I can't do German. Please enlighten me to the meaning of 'wooooga, wooga' in case I should need it sometime ;)
Booo to tidying up

My goodness, wooga does actually mean something "wooga creates casual games for social networks like Facebook or Myspace. Founded in January 2009, wooga GmbH is based in Berlin, Germany."
And I thought it was just a way of avoiding building my German vocab!

Well, at least the guard didn't say, Wooga wooga wooga get off at ze next station as you are not neat and tidy enough.

Have a glass of wine....I'm sure the tidying urge will pass :-)

Nick: I am almost sure he said it in his head though ;O).
Carol: As catch-all, cure-all, wine is an excellent solution.
