The hidden message in positive goo
Saturday, 31 October 2009

Watching Ghostbusters II tonight, in celebration of Hallowe'en spookiness, I was struck by the powerful image of the Statue of Liberty, covered in positive goo and belting out feel good disco music, making her way through the streets of Manhattan as the vanquishing force of of good against evil. Go Libby! New Yorkers suddenly filled with joy and began linking hands and singing Auld Lang Syne. Wow, I thought, THAT's why I became a therapist, to spread positive goo.
P.S. We had a computer lady round for 3 hours on Monday night. The netbook crashed after Bobo loaded 'thing 7' (as I technically referred to it for the computer lady). At the end of the evening I had more than exhausted my limited computer chat. "Do you even like computers?" she said incredulously. Well, no actually, I prefer notepads, diaries and writing reminders on my hand.
Oh, and did I mention that the builders are coming to replace the bathroom ceiling tomorrow. The cold water tank is in the ceiling, where's it going to go? And what is going to happen when the family forgets there is anything major happening and continues to nonchalantly ask mummy where stuff is.....grrrrr. On the plus side, it will remove the strange pink fluffy mushroom like mould growing on our bathroom wall and the constant drip, drip, dripping from above which has been a feature of the past few months. Let's hope they don't find anything more odious in the bathroom.

And not to invoke the negative goo?

I invoke the negative goo on holiday. Even therapists need a break from goodliness lol.

Are you comparing yourself to the Statue of Liberty, then? And all that stuff in the house - pink mushrooms - eugh! And I thought I was having enough trauma with the joiner here doing doors and staircase!

My sympathies, having builders tramping round the house disrupting everything is a pain in the bum. But perhaps if you coat them all with positive goo they'll turn pretty and convivial?

Working mum: There are more than a few passing similarities between Libby and I; she's a lady, she stands for something meaningful and she looks great in green.
Nick: Everything in the house will soon be covered in a thick layer of dust. The thought of it gives me the heebie geebies.

How lovely to spread positive goo!
My kids spread goo, but of a different sort, and it rarely turns out positive! ;)

Don't get rid of the fluffy pink mushroom! You can make towels out of it! Or one of those fluffy toilet seat covers......

suburbia: Lol. kids' goo is always sticky.
Loth: What a great idea, bobo would love that.

I can totally picture you spreading the joy like the Statue of Liberty in that movie (a classic, btw!).
Hope the repairs are going well and you're pink fluffly mushroom-free!

Angie: It is a classic, we were falling about laughing and the kids loved the ghostbusters car.
Unfortunately, the repairs never got started. They have found much more serious work that needs done and so we are going to be re-housed for an uncertain amount of time. Gin anyone lol?

More serious work that needs done? Poor you, all that upheaval. Is the rehousing by a housing association or is it all up to you?

Nick: Thank you for your concern, Nick. Luckily our letting agent has been excellent and has found us alternative accommodation close by. They are also dealing with the utility companies on our behalf, which also helps to take the stress out of it.
On the plus side, we get to try out living in a new area for a bit. We just have to stay positive and make the most of it. We have have been through much worse challenges than this and come through. Sometimes, life just throws up these curve balls. Thank goodness for my sense of humour.

Fluffy pink mushrooms sound kind of cute. Maybe you should keep them as pets.
