Gourmet romance

Monday, 18 May 2009

We were bracing ourselves for something bad to happen last Thursday, and it didn't. By way of celebration and to mark nearly 2 years together, we treated ourselves to a night of gourmet romance in the highlands. We stayed at the Cross in Kingussie, described as a restaurant with rooms. The meal was sumptuous, and we ran out of superlatives to describe each of the 5 courses in the meal, from the Jerusalem artichoke soup, to the olive and pistachio cake to the seafood boudin.

Sometimes, just now and again, it's worth pushing the boat out.

Absolutely, it's essential to push the boat out for those extra special occasions. Glad the superlatives ran out. Jenny and I once celebrated by eating at Deane's, the swishest restaurant in Belfast. Lots of money but it was worth it!

Oooohh that sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate!! Chris, Tom (Matron of honour) and I once decided not to buy each other Christmas presents and went for a very posh meal on New Years Day instead. It was wonderful and spending the time together sharing the meal was much better than just buying each other presents.

    Happy 2 year anniversary

That looks an absolutely beautiful place.

I'm so glad the bad thing didn't happen.

Congrats dear HullaBobo for your 2 years together and where else to celebrate but with a 5 courser and yummies. Good on ya, this is the stuff you remember for ever...

Nick: Glad you know how to treat yourselves too.

Carol and Chris: What a good idea, must try that for our birthdays.

Suburbia: The location was drop dead gorgeous. The only sound was the loudest ticking clock in the world.

Working mum: It was fab. There were lots of posh wedding magazines in the hotel, so we began to muse about what ours will be like.....

WWW: I am sure we will remember it forever, what a delight to have the time and space to catch up with each other.
