Caught in the middle of change

Monday, 4 May 2009

I haven't blogged all week. The past few days have left me exhausted with mental and physical change. A personal training session which challenged what I thought I was capable of and a supervision sesssion where the supervisor cut to the quick and challenged me to define who I was and how I practised.

I am still reeling, with vivid dreams and lots of journal writing to do. Older son's 9th birthday added to the emotional intensity and left me wondering why children's birthdays are often so tiring.

Children are tiring to start with. Children's birthdays = children squared. I bank on needing a week to recover from small boy birthday celebrations these days.

Loth: It is reassuring to know that you find children's birthdays tiring too, Loth. it's not something I'm doing wrong then.

I think all birthdays are tiring if other people are involved, which means constant chat, preparations, differences of opinion, disappointing presents etc! All very emotionally taxing. And I'm sure adding children and work to the mix makes it even more so. But hopefully the result is a happy tiredness and not a frazzled one!

Tiring is an understatement, stressful (because you want it to be perfect for them) and exhausting I reckon! Hope it went well tho'
